Overview
Context: A funded Pune-based logistics tech startup needed to digitize orders, carrier integrations, and customer service into a single scalable web platform to support aggressive growth and investor expectations. The legacy stack was a patchwork of spreadsheets and disparate apps that caused delays, data errors, and a fragmented customer experience. The leadership demanded faster time-to-market, tighter cost control, and clear, measurable ROI to justify ongoing investment. Execution: We built a modular, API-first web solution using a React-based frontend and a hybrid backend with Spring Boot for core order processing, Laravel for billing/admin workflows, and Django for analytics. The architecture included a unified admin portal, a partner API layer to connect couriers, ERP, and payment gateways, and a customer portal with real-time tracking and invoicing. The project unfolded in two phases: a 6-week MVP delivering order management, tracking, and invoicing; followed by 6 weeks of enhancements, additional courier integrations, and dashboards. Delivery was anchored by a structured sprint rhythm, formalized acceptance criteria, and an onboarding program that minimized disruption for operations teams. Impact: Consolidating functions into one platform reduced annual hosting and maintenance costs by 25–30%. The API-first approach enabled faster carrier onboarding, cutting setup times from weeks to days. The client observed roughly 20% reduction in order-processing time and a 15–20% drop in data-entry errors, with real-time visibility elevating customer satisfaction. ROI became evident as the platform scaled regionally, supporting growth without proportional tooling costs. The engagement is designed to evolve with the business, backed by India-based delivery that keeps pace with expansion.
